Haresfield 5k, Gloucester – 1st August 2019
On Thursday 1st August, the Pilot Inn at Haresfield, hosted the annual Gloucester 5k race. This event, which was the 9th race within the Gloucestershire AAA Road Race Series, was also the County 5k championship. The route followed an undulating single loop, starting and finishing at The Pilot Inn. Bourton Roadrunners had 6 runners taking part at this event.
Still in fine form, Bourton’s Darren Long was first home for the club in 9th position and 3rd MV40 in a time of 18:14. Niamh Shoemark, continuing her very good season, was first BRR lady and 1st LV50 in 20:21. Margaret Hollamby (LV65) had an excellent run in 23:06, finishing 2nd LV60.
John Harding (MV60) had a very respectable run, finishing in 24:58 and was followed closely by Gill Carrick; running her quickest 5k since 2013, in 25:45 and 4th LV60. Liz Hulcup, who had a calf-strain, completed in 26:01.
Highlights
Valuable County points were gained by Darren Long, Niamh Shoemark, Gill Carrick and Liz Hulcup.
